I logged in for about ten minutes, 2-3 guys with strong opinions, no break in the "debate" to comment.

In that ten minutes I was listening someone said they charges $10 a foot for under shed exclusion with hardware cloth. He must be digging in a sand pile, I wouldn't even load the truck for that price. All of my jobs require pick and shovel, I even rented an electric jackhammer for one job. Take into consideration pulling back a layer of mulch, peeling back the landscape cloth, cutting tree roots and hand digging around utilities and putting everything back as you found it, that's worth way more then $10foot.

Yeah some are worth 15 lol In my area I get about
That 10$ a ft and sometimes 15. Different areas pay
Different. My typical ground is sandy soil and
Tree roots. Hatchet shovel and a sod cutter.

I get $20 a foot. Not to many rock and roots. I use one of those little Mantis tillers. Saves alot of time.

$15-18 here. Usually bid super high ($25+) on the nasty ones but they always go for it.

Did one last year that had no bushes and soft ground around the whole thing. Almost left them a tip for making it easy on me.

With shipping charges added I can't even get a roll of good quality vinyl coated wire delivered for that amount. Add in fasteners and trim boards or metal edging and $20ft is still pretty skinny.

Dave and Others:
He also said he charges 25.00 for a inspection, that's not what were trying to get to. We are trying to educate people in methods, not prices, EVERYONEs prices are different. Its the methods that we are trying to educate folks on. Last night was not a good example of what these podcasts are all about, go back and listen to the first 3 of the year, that's a better representation of what we are looking for. Remember: Just because we don't agree on something does not mean its wrong, Its just different.
We also get in the 20 a foot range, but that's a whole different show, for another day. lol
That show will be called prices, the difference in locations.

Mike, I heard all that but it seems the majority here work too hard for too little pay. That or they can dig as fast as a gopher.

Good point, Dave. And does Montana have any of that stuff called "topsoil"? I mean, a jackhammer???! I've had some tough burrowproofing jobs, but never like that.
