I know that I'm going to sound like a idiot but I just heard of ADC and it seems like something I would be interested in so what does it stand for? What do y'all do? And how much money do y'all make.

ADC = Animal Damage Control. Most states, you have to be 18 to get a license. Not sure about the laws in your state. Check with your DNR for the rules. It is totaly different than fur trapping. You need to spend a few years with someone that has a business to learn how. If you start out and get a job, but don't know what you are doing, it will be bad. No one will hire you again. Lots to know before you get into it.

People have made millions and others have gone bankrupt. There are folks barely scraping together a living...and others living high on the hog. I recall that there is a thread about what characteristics make for success in this business.

Matthew, it's just like any other trade or business in that you can take it to whatever level you are capable of and desire.

As in every trade, the more urban the environment, the more work that is available.

Some do it as a second income and some do it as a primary income. Some do it as a sole proprietor and some run a business with a few or many employees.

There's certainly a market for it, if you're interested in doing it.

ADC and Wildlife control now days are basicly the same thing, just depends on the era and location the person is in and came from, on which term they use. Back in the late 70's Adc was a term used by the fed and states for people that dealt with manly predators or depredation and beaver problems. The job was for the most part trapping. That is how I started, doing depredation work and some predator (fox, coon and skunks Raiding and killing poultry, rabbits and in some cases fox on lambs)when the urban and suburban work started to really take off in 80 to 83 the term was urban wildlife control then switched to wildlife control. The ADC guys like my self, here on the east coast, and around the big towns, soon started doing squirrels and house dwelling coons and such. moles and ground critters like chipmunks and skunks. repairs came into play with the job, So I guess if there is a difference, today in the terms it would be ADC are manly trapping and wildlife control is trapping, harassment, exclusion, repairs, consultation, changing the habitat for less animal use (For the Life of me I can't remember that word LOL) a more encompassing field. and covers bats to hippos. LOL But I really do not expect to see many ADC that is not doing the wildlife control. so it is the same except for some of those only beaver or coyote men.

I stand corrected. I thought ADC stood for Avoid a Democratic Congress.

Good one Paul!
Not easy starting out! Lots of pitfalls! It's an expense to start, as any business. Some good live traps of different sizes are necessities! My coni's, footholds and snares are basically useless. I am used to getting nuisance beavers, coons in garages and garbage's, groundhogs in pasture. Now coons in chimney's, squirrels in attics, dead critters in furnace ducts under mobile homes, 2 feet thick blown in insulation, 1,000 degree roof/attic temps. Whole different ball game from setting dirt hole set! I really like it! Still unsure of myself but really like it!

Specialize to start. Start with ground animals. Work a year in building construction. Once you understand how a house is built, you will notice where the openings are, and have the skills to repair them. You will also learn safety measures for working. If you have handyman experience it will shorten your learning curve. It also helps to be detail oriented. ADD (Attention Defecit Disorder) helps with concentration. I got mine from my kid. At least he got diagnosed with it. I never did so I must ...

What was I talking about?

The actual trapping is not gonna make you rich, the exclusion work might.
