I am really getting sick and tired of this little box appearing in the middle of my computer and having to do everything I was doing, all over again.

Does Everybody have this problem or is this something local?

What do you suggest I do about it? Different search engine? Which one?

Any help would be appreciated. ( Before I blow the screen away )

What is internet explorer? smile

Since buying a Mac I can honestly say my computer stress level (used to be on one at least 50% of the work day) has dropped to a ridiculously low level.

Best switch in technology I ever made!

(Though I realize Paul, I'm talking to the anti-tech chairman, I believe the president is Salys!)

Safari is Macs version of internet explorer, even sounds like something for our industry, I mean come on doesn't safari sound more wildlife-esque?

If you're using the new Internet Explorer 11 you will have problems for quite some time. I think everyone using IE 10/11 is having to deal with various issues - including me. I do my own website work and I have to juggle between IE 11 and Chrome just to make changes and publish the site as well as dealing with the double bounce backs when I hit the back button. I lose a lot of time and get very frustrated at times but there's not a lot I can do until IE 11 is ironed out. Like Justin, I believe the Mac encounters fewer problems but I am too far vested in Windows PCs and software. However, I am not ruling out going to Mac next year if WIN 9 is as crappy as WIN 8.

Thanks everyone. Dave, since Yahoo actually suggested Foxfire, I'm going to go with it. I was actually waiting until someone came out with Raccoonfire, but I waited long enough.

I use a library computer and almost always use IE, just because I'm used to it, and know where all the things are, and have had some problems, which go away when I go to Firefox or Google Chrome.

Again, you are talking to a Dave Salys understudy, but you are not even allowed to use the words "Google Chrome" in this office.

Just don't remove Internet explorer from your computer if you use quickbooks. Leave it installed..,but don't use it. It does not hurt to have multiple browsers.

Once again, I am probably not smart enough to remove it but I am certainly not smart enough to remember that I could have killed QuickBooks and consequently have signed my own death warrant.

Paul,

What error message are you actually getting? My computer support days are over, but it's hard to help rectify a problem when you don't know exactly what that problem is.

I run IE 11.0.3 and have no problems with it. Chrome is an interesting browser and very similar to IE in how it look. Firefox has a bit of a different look so don't be afraid to experiment with what you like the most. If you go with a any of the Apple products, Safari is very nice to work with.

With saying all of this, I'd recommend trying to figure out what the current problem is before switching to something else. You could be experiencing a hardware or memory issue, problem with your ISP or connection, DSL or cable modem issue, IP conflict, operating system issue to just start with. Any of these issue won't be solved by just switching browsers.

Again, look at what the error is and also say what operating system you have and if you have any service packs installed with it (general click on Start the right click on "Computers" then click properties to find that info) and what version of IE you're using (click on the sprocket looking icon by the star when IE is open then click on about IE).

You are better off with firefox, chrome or safari....then internet explorer. I have all of them on my computer...but generally run firefox. You can use safari on a PC.

From what I can understand, Internet Explorer has to stop working several times a day to be eligible for free Obamacare.

It just stopped again with no real explanation why. If someone said that the other operating systems were conspiring against them, I would believe it. They must be losing thousands of customers a day.

Thanks all of you. Especially Kurt and Vinke ( Not so much). I'm currently using Firefox and I bet I sound more intelligent already.
