Hello All,

I did a skunk job today. I told the woman that I would give her a quote on exclusion work. I would be skunk proofing her porch so, skunks can't get in below the porch. She has plastics lattices around the outside of the porch. Would a skunk chew through the lattices to get under the porch? Or do I need to use another material to skunk proof the porch?

Thanks

Chuck

1/2" mesh hardware cloth, painted/vinyl coated and buried parallel to grade 12" out from structure. Skunks are digging machines - nothing above ground will help.

Was a good article in WCT awhile ago about it.

Just because something is legal doesn't make it smart.

It is very common for rabbits to chew the holes bigger on the plastic lattice panels. You always need to consider other local critters when "proofing" a deck, porch or crawl space. Use the hardware cloth BEHIND the lattice so it's not very visible. If you're selling a critter-proofing job for a porch, make sure it is truly critter proof.
