Saw a roadkill on Rt.611 in Bucks County PA on Sunday, March 2nd. Didn't stop to sex it.
I am wondering if they come out when out of fat, and does the extended, extreme cold have anything to do with their fat metabolism during hibernation? Or, is it just a horny male wakes up with a woody, then goes out and gets hit by a car?

Hard to believe this (rrrriiigghht...), but the males wake up in a romantic mood and think of mating first and foremost. Females wake up and wanna eat, let the males come to them.

Trapster, I think Phil the Groundhog is from Pennsylvania. ( And his last name might be Nichols )
