Kevin, I never made it to Nome but I did have a chance to stay with two of the best King Island ivory carvers ever. Have you ever heard of Sealskin Charlie McAlpine? If not, look him up. I worked for him for a couple of months. I could write a book on Charlie and maybe I will.

Havent heard of him but I know a few others that may know him.

I would be surprised if anyone admitted to being a relative to Charlie. He made a fortune in walrus ivory and according to Alaska Fish & Game, not all of it legitimately.

Somebody put one on my bumper last year I kept it because it was great, think they had the wrong car but its ok with me.
