I dont have any experience with feral cats and I am getting ready to my first job so I have been reading a lot. I came across a local news story where they were quoting the "expert".
She said, " To deter the cats from walking on your lawn, toss orange peels or coffee grounds on the grass."
Is there any truth to that...sounds like one of those home remedy deals to me.

Unless you physically hit them with the coffee grounds and orange peels, I don't see how that will work. But maybe all the possums that take up residence around your house eating the orange peels and coffee grounds chase them away.

Yeah, I can see where orange peels and coffee grounds would be so much more attractive than cat tracks. Where do they come up with this stuff?

Right now, I am picturing in my mind, a big orange tomcat sneaking up on an orange and black Baltimore Oriole that is busy feeding on its favorite food, orange peels.

80C, if you have any problems with your cat job, PM me. I'll try to help.

Thank you very much paul. I really appreciate that.
It is for a non profit called "soldiers wish". We are doing an extreme makeover on the oldest american legion building in oklahoma so I am donating my service to the cause and I am affraid I am going to be there long after the makeover is complete. smile

80C, amazing coincidence. One of my grade school classmates is Legion Commander. He just sold the entire Legion property to make way for a shopping center. Now they have enough money and the property to build a state-of-the-art Legion Post.

They have this huge WWII Sherman tank that would look perfect in front of our house but for some strange reason, the Mrs is not real big on the idea.

Paul,
sounds like the legion came out good on that deal!

Just add a bird bath to the tank and maybe your wife will let it slide. smile

It would probably work, but we're on a main highway and I'm not sure that a tank covered with bird do-do would be great advertising.

You have to be careful dealing with feral cats in OKlahoma 80c when I got my nwco license the wildlife department told me it was a felony offense to euthanize a cat or dog be it feral or not in Oklahoma. He said if we caught them by accident that we should either turn them loose where we caught them or turn them over to the dogcatcher.

Buried chicken wire will stop cats from digging. Bury the wire anyplace you want to exclude cats. Spike it down, cover it with dirt and/or mulch.

Yes Paul I'm sure there are. I know there are many in our state as well. I was at a total loss for words when the department man told me. He told us the fastest way for a ADC guy to get his license pulled and charges pressed on him was to start messing with cats. He told us to not even consider a cat job. Apparently there was an issue with a guy in Tulsa putting a cat into a co2 chamber because the client told him to while the clients neighbor who owned the cat and her young daughter watched and begged to him to stop. It cost him his license and thousands of dollars to stay out of jail. Not to mention the bad light he shed toward all ADC people.

I think most of us would have given the cat back to the little girl and refunded the customer's money.

If I'm in town and draw a crowd of kids that want to ask questions, I take the time to answer them all, even if I'm late.

Everyone agrees that "word of mouth" is the best advertising so if your customer's neighbor is an anti, change their mind.
