Seeking imput /addvice. I'm doing a job on a farm and haven't trapped rats before . They are all arouund the henhouse .They have so many tunnels I'm thinking off tilling it all and trapping the new tunnels . I have caught 2 in small jump traps the fitt inside the tunnels OK but am open to suggestions . Sarcasm is welccome if I can learn something from it..

Glue boards and poison work well. Most all poisons are Rat specific, but, some poisons can kill animals that eat the dead Rat.

It can take weeks to do a good clean out for a large rat network. We trap with dozens of small cage traps where needed and use some rat snaps in confined boxes where other animals are prone to be an interference problem. Placing bait stations if you are licensed to do so will help with a good program as well.

I baited my weasel boxes witth peanut butterr but haven't had acttion yet. Are multi catch live traps worth it ? Or do they work well with wood rats?

The few wood rat jobs I've had were pretty easy. I used live traps and squirrel paste and probably some pb too.

I put small conibears over the holes. Last job was in a large bird pen - set 24 traps. I till when the catch starts to fall off, then look for new activity.

Multi catch works ok in my area, but only if you prebait it with the doors wired open...

You have to prebait to get them used to it ?

Thanks for the input . I ordered glue traps and snap traps . I'll bait some wooden tunnels and see and see how it goes.

I have never had much luck with glue traps. Big rats will get off. At least for me.

I'm glad Jim posted the glueboard thing because I agree.
