Hello everyone, I am new to the site, still trying to figure all the bells & whistles. I have been collecting traps for a couple of years now and was looking for a place to buy and sell vintage traps, ( outside of ebay ). I saw the shed and realize that is where I need to post listings for sale. However it states, you must have a price in mind. This is where the problem comes in for me. I have around 50 traps that I want to sell but not sure of the value. Can anyone help? Where can I post to get feedback on price range?

The 4 traps that stand out are, Newhouse #5, #150, #114, #48. The two bear traps have stamped springs. All of the 4 are original with NO repairs.

I would like to sell the entire group ( all 50 traps ) together. Could really use help with pricing the group. Low end & high end.

Thanks Zippie

if you been collecting for a few years you must know your traps are quite valuable, like to hear more about the others, but what i see well into the thousands.

Thanks for your reply. I understand they have value. I just see prices all over the board. I was just wandering what the people on this forum thought the value as a lot would be in todays market.
The 4 traps ( Newhouse #5, #150 #114, #48 ) are where the value is hear. The remaining 46 may be good for a starter collection. However I want to sell as a group. If I dont hear from anyone today as to a low and high end value, I will put them in the shed with a price for the lot in the morning. I will post with contact info.

I have a general idea of what I will want for the group with free shipping inculded. I think it is in the middle between the low and high value. It would just be nice to hear from others who have more knowledge than myself.

Thanks to everyone who responds,

Hi Zippie,
When pricing a collector trap there are many variables to take into consideration to determine an accurate determination on value. When selling with pictures on the better items you will need, especially on the bear traps, good clear close ups of the spring stamping on each spring, the underside of the traps showing both post nuts, a good clear close up of the underside of the jaws showing all the teeth, and a good picture of the chains. The #5 Community should have the chain stretched out to see all of the links. I sent you a PM earlier also on your collection.

I understand you wanting to sell the collection together - one and done.

However, it might be worth more money if it is broken up, maybe into smaller groups. Selling each trap by itself could be a pain.

Here is the reason I think you should break it up. You have a couple of Newhouse traps that are quite valuable. You could also have some smaller traps that are valuable as well. There are many collectors who don't care about bear traps - too expensive, too big, just dont care, etc. - but are very interested in the small traps. A bear trap collector for the most part isn't going to care about the smaller traps and vice versa. Any one who is interested in the entire lot is most likely a dealer who will want to pay a low price so that he can resell and make a profit.

Knowing what the smaller traps are will be helpful in offering advice on how to break them up.

As a person who couldn't care less about bear traps but does like small traps, I am sometimes willing to more a higher price for a certain trap I need for my collection.

Just somethimg to think about.........

More photos added, One spring on each of the large traps is stamped. Hope this helps. If more is needed please let me know.
