Nick,it is my bread and butter trick. LMAO!! That's what I would tell all my competition too. Next season you'll go out and find 1/2 dozen traps with tin foil around the pan near all your sets and still catch all the coon.

I put auto body repair tape on mine. Lasts longer and sticks better IMO. Mink

Why not use a pocket set? or a smear set? or a fish stick set? or a PVC set?
Those sets will outproduce a tinfoiled pan set every time.

I think it isn't a very good use of time. If you talk to the guys that pile up the fur (nick) they will all tell you to put in the quickest set with the least amount of tools. 100 simple quick sets will outproduce 25 perfectly constructed time consuming sets.
  Just stating my opinion.

Yes Nick, but they will learn. The pocket will out produce it and doesnt take long, but the foil is a change up for heavily trapped areas. Mink

I tired the foil trick for a few times and never caught a thing. had a discussion with my father-in-law and he says that is a great set. he loves it.
so I tried it again this year. Foil oover pan in 1-2 inches of riffles. there happend to be a high back on the side of the creek, so I put a little lure on a stick and poked it in the mud.
2nd day a nice coon was waiting there for me. I put the foil on at home and these sets are quick to make. I add them into my line and figure that coon can check pocket sets with lure, or find the foil....either way a coon is a coon.
nothing works evertime, but I will make one tomorrow when I reset just becaue of this thread.

What about making a pocket and luring like normal, but put foil on teh pan so that the coon is intrigued by the lure, looks in that dirrection, and sees the foil. I guess you would have to make your set in shallow water but still, wouldnt hurt would it? Mink
