PEANUT BRITTLE
2 CUPS SUGAR 1 CUP WHITE SYRUP 1/2 CUP HOT WATER 2 CUPS RAW PEANUTS 1 TSP OLEO 1 TSP. VANILLA 2 TSP. SODA
BOIL SUGAR, SYRUP AND WATER UNTIL HARD BALL FORMS OR TO 250 ON CANDY THERMOMETER.
ADD PEANUTS AND BUTTER. STIRRING CONTINUOUSLY AFTER PEANUTS ARE ADDED.
COOL UNTIL IT TURNS A LIGHT GOLDEN COLOR.
REMOVE FROM HEAT AND ADD VANILLA AND SODA.
STIR QUICKLY AND POUR ONTO A GREASED COOKIE SHEET.
I POUR MINE INTO TWO BATCHES .
AFTER IT STARTS TO COOL, TAKE A KNIFE AND RUN AROUND EDGES AS YOU PULL THE CANDY .
CONTINUE DOING SO UNTIL YOU USE YOUR HANDS AND STRETCH IT.
THIS MAKES IT THINNER AND CRISPER.
IF YOU LIKE IT THICKER JUST LET IT COOL AS YOU POURED IT OUT.
Good Luck and God Bless you and yours,

OLEO = Margarine
This is my Grandmother's recipe, and I forget that some folks don't know what they called margarine before it was margarine...
and yes Newt, soda = baking soda..
I guess I should have looked it over better, but I know what it means... sort of like proof reading something, and missing a word here and there...

If you can get your hands on some Mexican vanilla, it sure makes it better, any brand will do...
I like the wang that stuff gives candy and ice cream...
In fact that is the only vanilla we use now....
