Why did Throw Back catch ZERO moles on his first mole job?

Because your customer doesn't know the difference between a mole and a woodchuck.

That was my first guess as well. We've all probably done it at one time or another and that's why there are no safety hooks on any of my OOS.

I removed the safety's as soon as they came out of the box. On the advice of many trappers on this site.

I have all my OOS traps open (with latches) when I set up mole jobs. Once you forget to flip the latch a time or two, you should LEARN from the mistake. By the reasoning here, every 220 and 330 conibear you own should have no latches???

BTW.... I set my OOS by hand (no setters), and the latches are left hooked until the tap is bedded and ready to have peat moss filler applied. (No, I don't set them like the directions say.... the person who wrote those directions has never caught a mole).

Ron:
How about filling us in how you set the OOS. What is the peat moss filler for. Remind me not to shake hands if we meet. LOL :>)

Exactly.

How many times will you touch a hot stove before you realize that you get burned when you touch it. Come on now. Obviously some of us aren't very detail oriented individuals. You have to learn or teach yourself to be more observant.

Releasing the safety catches should be an elementary conditioned reflex after a few mistakes. If you don't check your work or set ups prior to leaving your jobs you will pay the price if you are using a device requiring safety releases. I use the safeties as well many times as needed but not always.

What Ron said. I like my fingers just the way they are. Therefore, if a trap's out of the ground, the safety is on.
