Kyt OP trapper K Joined: Apr 2008 Kentucky	A friend wanted help catching a varmint than was killing his pigeons. The holes where they were digging under the pen were rat-sized so I told him it was rats, mink, or weasles doing it. Set 5 no. 1 victors along the side of the pen and in front of the holes. 3 huge chipmunks in one night. Hard to believe they were the guilty, but 3 in one night, and all abnormally large?

HD_Wildlife trapper H Joined: Apr 2010 NM	Were they eating the seed but the killer wasn't among them in terms of species? I mean they wil eat meat and cannibalize others, so why not buy why not suspect they were eating seed. I would be looking at the stomach contents for my own info if I thought that. Can learn a lot from looking in the guts of a suspected predator. To add some other info there are many published studies of chipmunks, squirrels and so forth deprecating on songbird and game bird nests. I myself like eggs and chicken if you get my drift... Kyt OP trapper K Joined: Apr 2008 Kentucky	HD Wildlife, the abundant seed inside makes it likely that is what they were after, so the traps will stay set. But after reading accounts of chipmunks killing birds, I'm wondering. Checking stomach contents is a good idea, but I'll suggest that to the owner of the pigeons--spelunking around in Alvin doesn't go with the oatmeal this morning.

Paul Winkelmann trapper P Joined: Jul 2008 mequon, wisconsin	In my case it was a weasel but he wouldn't quit until I caught him. If the chipmunks are the culprit they should be live trapped and sold to those guys with those "hard to reach" pigeon jobs.

When I lived in Dayton, I found pigeons, most beheaded and with the crops eaten out, stuffed down holes in my loft and flights. I at first thought I had rats, but saw several chipmunks entering the lofts. The deaths stopped after I caught several chipmunks. Keith
