Another style of PVC fleshing beam that we've used for a long time.

Similar one that mounts to bench instead of free standing.

Nifty little job for holding pelt in place.

Works like this.

I like the idea of the interchangeable size beams a lot. In practice though I've been super happy with these 6 inch ones. Seems like I can flesh everything on them. Most have fleshed a LOT of rats and otter but pretty much everything else you can catch up here also. Bigger might be nice for beaver and big game hides maybe.

I built a bank of receiver hitch type brackets so I can slide my beam in to adjust for height. The beams also are fully adjustable for angle and storage. The table between the beams folds out of the way in the offseason.

The beam on the left is a 2x8 pine board I shaped about 20 years ago in high school. The one on the right is an MTP fleshing beam that a buddy gave me once he decided it was easier for me to put up his coyotes then do it himself smile

I just made my 1st wood beam. Been using pvc the past 2 years. Question is does anyone treat the beam before using or do you just use the bare wood and the animal fat treats as you go?

t20, bare wood. Fat will treat it as you go.
If you can't stand bare wood until next season, rub in boiled linseed oil for now...lol
I clean blood off my beam from time to time. I use a disinfectant wipe.

Fur Minator,

You entire setup is an ABSOLUTE DREAM fur shop in my mind!!! I'm building a new shed this summer, and I want to incorporate a lot of what you have for the set up. I'm a big fan of the fold up beams with a support leg underneath. But I'm an even bigger fan of that white tub backer you have.

What is that white tub? where did you find it?

Teg

Thanks for getting this back up. I am building all my stuff AGAIN from scratch(ex liquidated the other stuff). Thought i should work backwards with the hide shed being first. Have a back injury i deal with a bit and really like the idea of the "Blue Engish" boards and it would fit nicely into a shower stall i have. I love being able to learn and improve my set-up. Thanks again to all for sharing. smile
