This was found in an alley. It has eye slits but no familiar pattern. [img:left]https://www.facebook.com/GHanold/posts/10207976892208651[/img]

Where are you seeing snakes? I haven't seen a snake in at least a month.

It's still fairly warm here, high 70's most days. The snake in the basement calls are starting to roll in. This one was in a city alley though.

It does not appear to be venomous to me. Do you have the snake? Post some good (in focus) close-up pictures of head and vent area of snake.

EDIT: My guess is juvenile rat snake. Does the snake have>- Heat sensing pits? Hinged fangs? Subcaudal scales>- divided or single?

When I started this post I was in a wicked hurry to try and get an ID of this snake before I got there. My Iphone would download the picture but the submit buttons were off screen, so I couldn't show it in the post. I ended up posting it to Facebook then copying the link for the original post. Now that I'm on my laptop, I can post the picture.

If it's small, it's a Decay's snake. What's the belly look like?

I average a lost pet snake every two years. This one is currently living in my basement along with the others. Every time I get one I say I'm going to sell it to make just a little more on the job, but never do. When I caught my albino corn snake I moved it into my first pythons tank and I spent $400 on a snake enclosure big enough for the python. I just don't come out on these jobs.

Yeah, we get one about every two years too. But we never take the jobs. It's not the python that scares me. It's the drug dealers

that own them!

Careful slick, your ignorance is shining through.

There were no drug dealers anywhere around any I've gotten. 1st was a ball python left behind when a woman moved out ditching on her lease. 2nd was an albino corn snake that was spotted crawling across a driveway then up under the hood of their SUV. Then this last one was found in a alley behind a business. The only issue I've had is not being versed enough in snakes to be able to identify many of the exotics, especially now that there is a loophole allowing venomous snakes into the state. That's why I started this topic, I was trying to identify what I was going to be dealing with when I got to the job site.
