Who's buying?
For those of you that don't use them, they are doing an IPO soon and sent me an offer to buy some. I assume everyone who uses them got the same offer.

Thanks for posting the link RF. Here's some info on an alternative. Link to the whole article. A new company called OurPhoneSwipe.com has answered that call.
OurPhoneSwipe noticed how much extra business they suddenly started getting after Square changed their TOS. The company wisely made the move to double down on this opportunity. They immediately reached out to gun merchants and websites in an effort to get the word out that they will not abandon gun vendors and owners. OurPhoneSwipe even signed up as a supporting vendor on a number of gun related fan websites including XDTalk.com, DefensiveCarry.com & NationalGunForums.com. OurPhoneSwipe also has better rates than most of their competitors, so that is a big extra plus.

Kurt, When we started we used square, we also used paypal for a non profit thing we were doing (not sure what their firearms politics are), both were equal to each other in user fees, both give a free swiper, both have a simple app for the phone, both deposited in reasonable time frames. Wink, with Costco do you pay a higher rate to enter the clients card manually? With others you always pay a bit more to do manually (security issues I suppose?) than in person swipes. We had to move to a bank due to third party issues (square and paypal aren't banking institutions but third party which is fine for residential but govt. users have restrictions on this for govt. cards for projects we were doing so we moved to BOA which is costly, has a monthly fee, still just a swiper and an app, simple to use, but the fees! Checking into another mentioned recently to see if it fits my govt. needs and if so, I'm on the move... Square is being used widely, and the bulk of businesses and owners (other than those selling or marketing firearms) care about quality customer service, the costs and the product working and putting money in the bank, I don't buy stock but may just watch this for the fun of it, these folks likely are competing with many we haven't heard of and they made it to a very visible presence so I'd say though I'm sure they have losses from folks who have a high priority on gun control politics in our country, square is still one of the biggest kids on the block for ease of use and turnkey for entrepreneurs.

Square worked great for us and if I was a betting man their IPO would be worth buying.
If your politics relative to what you find documented on them pans out. Frankly many times we hear about certain companies being anti gun or anti hunting, trapping etc.... While others we buy from or support are doing the same yet are hiding it better.... Personally I haven't got the time or interest to fact check everyone I buy from though I understand wanting to not support those who support issues that are against your beliefs or concerns....
Just remember many hide how they contribute and are far worse than those you know about.. I'd be very careful of it ... During the first six months of 2015, Square earned $560.6 million in revenue, up 51% from the same period in 2014. However, the firm posted a loss of $77.6 million and openly admitted it may never achieve profitability.
“Our business has generated net losses, and we intend to continue to invest substantially in our business,” the filing said. “Thus, we may not achieve or maintain profitability.”
Dorsey and other members of Square’s senior management will give presentations to investors as they start their IPO roadshow next week.
Honor a Soldier. Be the kind of American worth fighting for.

I don't mind the risk and these things usually turn out OK, even if you have to wait a while. But reading that prospectus just reminds me of why I dislike the stock market. No control, they can create and sell more shares whenever they want, diluting yours. You aren't buying voting shares, those are reserved for others. The game is definitely stacked in their favor.
