This just sold on eBay,,,,,,$4066.00 for a herters #6 size bear trap with an ATC pan!!,,,,please tell me I am wrong,,,,

Yes, You are right, I brought it up in a post a few days ago that the trap was not a Newhouse.

Looks like there were 5-6 bidders in at over a thousand dollars. Too bad they all were fooled. Hope the buyer is happy with his purchase.

Maybe some of you folks with the knowledge and experience could put together a few tips or details on the difference between the bear traps. What to look for to spot a fake, etc.
Could help a few people out.

look for the casting marks on the top of the jaws and the santed back of the teeth,,,should not be rounded or bullet shape,,i might not be wording that right but u should be able to see what i am talking about in the pictures,,look at the difference of these teeth and the teeth on the $4000 job,,,now i hope the pictures show what i am talking about

They'll make a nice display brother, along with the 3 1/2 Newhouse clutch trap that was sold a few years back on eBay, I can hardly contain my excitement to see what pops up next on eBay.
