This lady has a skunk under her home I am sure. She never sees it though.

The smell in the home is strong. She would like to kill the smell in the home.

I mentioned about using the peroxide/baking soda/detergent sprayed in the return ducts.

I don't know of anything else strong enough to clear the air.

I will get the skunk as soon as they start moving. It was warm now single digits.

Any suggestions?

I would be very skeptical of the peroxide potion working on airborne odor. The sponsor of this ADC forum, has several odor removal products for sale....I have never used any of them but would be interested to hear from those who have. Also interested to know what you all tell your customers before setting a skunk job this time of year.

Order the odor Assassin from WCS.
Do not open up windows to let the skunk odor out.
Spray approx every 8 hours or as needed.

At this time of year, the beginning of the breeding season, most skunk odor is from competing males fighting or females not yet ready to breed spraying an aggressive male. This means that the odor is coming from outside the home, probably from underneath. Spraying products inside will have very limited success at getting rid of the odor.

If the underside of the trailer is accessible, that is where the job is, both trapping and odor control. Once that is accomplished, cleaning and deodorizing the inside can be done by the customer or if real bad, farmed out to a cleaning company.

Keep in mind it's possible the odor is coming from a dead skunk and will remain as long as the carcass does.

Pulled a dead skunk out of the side of a mobile home once. It was mummified but still had a good skunk smell to it. I had the owner peel back some of the siding, boy did he jump. Every time the furnace came on it smelled like skunk. It is very hard to get a dead skunk into a live trap. smile I always suspect dead skunks when the smell is pretty strong and no luck trapping. But, weather may be a factor.

My 2 cents is to set multiple traps now. Skunks are moving here even with this cold. Tracks in the snow, or active crawl-unders will be your guide. Don't be surprised if there is a den under there with several occupants. The perimeter will have to be fenced afterward to prevent more problems.
What sgs said.

Toss a few moth balls under house. Ironically the skunks and all other critters can't stand the smell

Can't tell you how many critters I've caught that had Moth Balls in their hole or living area.

-a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often amusing as a result.
plural noun: ironies

That said, if they are there before the animal moves in,I think there is a chance that enough neurotoxin in the air could convince an animal not to move in. However, if a skunk sprays your front door, you aren't going to move from a smelly house, and the animal won't either.

I sure hope the moth ball suggestion was tongue in cheek. Toxic to humans, illegal and ineffective.
