Buddy sent me a pic of this trap. Anybody want to try identify it and give a ball park price. All he knows is its listed as a bear trap and it's going to be auctioned this Sunday. His brother in law is going to it and will send better pics once he is there on Sunday. It's the only pic in the catalog. Any info would help. This is the pic he text me. Thanks

Sorry, but that picture doesn't help much. Any idea what it says on the pan?

It looks like it is a dog less trap, so that might give some one else a clue. Chain also looks like a bear trap size chain.

Good Luck.

Sure was good of you to put the auction web site in the photo
The price of that bear trap just went up LOL

Looks like an AR or LR with possibly newhouse springs on it, trap has most likely been apart. If you go to the website that pic there comes up a bit better.
price?
In Edmonton it could go high, most low quality bear traps at auction there have been selling for more than what they are worth.
Now that the oil patch is shutting down that could change.

He sent some pics. Not great but should help to put a value on it.

From what I can see, Mike has pretty much said it all. I have owned several of the L.R,s over the years , and I have found them with Newhouse springs both machined and trip hammered. Other then the Newhouse springs everything else says L.R. Jaws , pan, chain, teeth ,swivel, all L.R.

If my buddy wants to buy it what's a reasonable price?
He just wants to hang it in his cabin at the lake.

I would say $350-$500, is usually about what they sell for depending on condition. These traps are usually a little bigger then a #5 Newhouse. Hope this helps....

Nope. Was looking for a wall hanger for the cabin but figured that was to much.
