I am using a lisc pest company. We had good results but 6 months later we had a reoccurance. Columbus is #1 with bed bugs issues. Is this common and have you had better results with heat or chemical. Dealing in a senior living community. Thanks

Bed Bugs can be like roach problems, in that when in particular you are dealing with multi occupational living conditions they can require contractual treatments over a period of time as needed, since you cannot control outside visitation and travelers to the tenants living quarters.

We have not used heat treatments, I have only read about them and the success rates vary. We use strictly chemical treatments and attempt to determine the cause and source to help prevent reintroduction of the pest problem. Contact kill and residual materials applied in a very thorough manner are very effective if the time is spent doing a good job.

However, in many cases with bed bugs it is not often a "One and Done" control situation.

Thank you Bob I appreciate and respect your advice and the information. We have so many visitors, therapist,etc... I will continue the chemical treatment. The bed bug is becoming as common as ants unfortunately. We also run the dogs thru our community about every couple of months. Bed Bug dogs. They work great for early detection and people dont really know what we are doing.

We use heat and chemical. It can take hours to do an apartment.

Hey Bob and Eatin by Limestone, what products are you guys using? We are now using Alpine spray Alpine dust and Temprid sc.We used to use Suspend but had bad results with it(lot of call backs)Heard lots of good results with cimexa dust.Yeah, you do get the itches after doing inspection for those critters.
We also use a team of dogs for larger accounts such as Colleges, universities hotels etc.

Temprid, Tempo dust, Bedlam aerosol and lots of steam.

We're pretty bare bones with treatment. One of the other companies in town has a dog, large equipment to heat the home, etc. I'm not sure their success rate though.

There are several products that we use depending on the sensitivity of the application area. Cimexa is very good for crack and crevice/void non sensitive areas. We have used Bedlam aerosol for box springs and mattress pleats. We mix up other products and some IGR's as a cocktail. Zenprox EC is another effective material we use for bed bugs.

Growth regulators are always a bonus to inhibit developmental stages of some pest insects that may exposed to chemicals. Particularly some strains that may have become resistant or averse to a chemicals lethal effect.

But yet you can make an impact upon the stages of their life cycle growth and gain some control in that area as well. Just something that I feel will help in gaining control and reducing the potential of a rebounding recover.

I want to thank everyone for there input. Our pest company uses a residual chemical with a growth inhibator. We have put a few policies in place for our long term plan.
Early detection and a pro active stance seems to be working for us.
Again thank you.
