Got a call from a customer today who is dealing with sparrows and starlings nesting/roosting on tractors, under the tractor hoods, and in the AC ductwork. Also they are creating a problem with their droppings. This company has acres of $100,000 tractors and is desperate for any advice. Gels or any other product that would deface them are not an option since these are brand new.

Any ideas?

Where would be a good place to find plans or an example for said starling trap?

Google "starling trap" you will get the larger units as well as the small units. The larger units are the only thing I've used or witnessed used and they do work. You will find links to plans on many of the image links if you search.

Many I saw used in the jack pine areas of northern MI were made of wood frames and wire, nothing fancy other than the funnel design.

When trapping Starlings always leave some starlings in the trap to attract more, use 26 turkey starter for food, and keep LOTS of water for them to drink and bath in. Look at the trap that they use for keeping starling away from purple martin houses. It uses to attract nesting starling.

Removing the resident bird population is your first course of action then putting up physical deterrents in roosting locations and places where birds will likely land to survey the surroundings...keeping them from those areas will prevent a big problem again in the future
