I left the house at 9:16 this morning after setting up. I pulled back into their driveway and clocked in at 10:01 to pick it up. *fist pump*

Positive set on a hole beside a foundation. The trap was on its side so I could use the door and a paver to corral.

Some chucks are easy. Been a couple times I told customers that they may be calling me in a hour or less. Some did

Had one that I pulled up to check and the chuck was standing next to the trap, it seen me and ran back to hole. 30 minutes later customer called

With positive sets, double door cages, catching chucks in minutes can be a common occurrence. If you play it right, you can make this more of a normal thing rather than unusual. Can't make it happen every time by any means, but often. Had one spot this spring that we took 5 chucks, catching 2 of them in minutes on different days. I took Judy with me for the second one with that in mind. Found a chuck and hole we didn't know existed in the evening. Had him in a few minutes. When you interrupt their feeding, they are hungry and come right back out to finish dinner. Had one job in a horse barn a few years ago. Set one hole, set a second hole, had the first chuck, then the second chuck while I spoke with the owner. Added four sets and got a call 4 hours later with 4 more chucks. Got 6 in five hours, which was the whole family. Got one more about a week later. For perspective, the land owner had caught one small chuck the previous summer.

Some of you have probably heard this one before. ( I've told it enough ) Pulled into customer's driveway and 'chuck is looking at me. I turn off engine and 'chuck runs under lawn mower shed. I grab cage and set it in depression where it ran in. Gave the metal lawn mower shed a good kick and Mr. Chuck ran into cage. Customer comes out and I said, "Sorry it took so long."

Bet you felt guilty about accepting payment, but not guilty enough not to accept it graciously. Sure is great when it goes like that. Helps to make up for those jobs that hang up at times.

Yesterday got a call, skunk in a cage. They were targeting chucks and had caught one. Told them I would release or remove the skunk for a fee, but it they had me do the chuck job I would include taking care of the skunk with no additional charge. Set the chuck about noon. The job "dragged on" for almost 3 hours before we caught him. LOL. The lady came out after a couple of hours and saw the chuck in the hole about to enter the cage, but scared him back in. She came out and hour later and said, "he is between the closed doors," i.e., caught! When I think of all of the years of the non-targets, re-baiting, changing bait, extra trips, miles, time, I'm sure glad it has all become a faint memory, supplanted by positive sets.
