Kenai, yes that is a mink box stuck in a dam by the support pole. The water came high after a rain, and the box was flooded,so I put in fresh bait and stuck it in the dam beside a tag alder to keep the bait fresh and dry.Not normally the way I would set but I was in a hurry that day, lol.

No picture today, the wind was fierce and it was a major struggle to paddle my little boat to the traps and back to the landing. 18 more rats today, I would have moved some unproductive sets if not for the heavy winds. I am wondering just how worth it it is to double set everything? While I have gotten several doubles, most of the sets have singles and even singles with two traps on them (one on the head and one on the leg or tail). Thursday I will move sets around if the wind isn't too bad. The wind and waves are tearing up feed beds and toilets bad!

Forever in debt to my Father who introduced me to trapping. May I be half the man he was.

Lumberjack: Congrats on your success. How did you Collar and release the Bobcat.? In Wisconsin you have to have a tag to keep a bobcat. And where I am it takes quite a few years to get a tag from what I understand. The DNR is doing a study on bobcats, so if you catch one and don't have a tag, there is a number you can call and they will come out and sedate the cat. Then they take temperature, tooth size, ear tag, and collar it. It was a very very cool experience. Major props to the WDNR and their bobcat collaring team. It was a very educational and fun experience. Especially for a newbie like me.

The white tail rat looks like a big one. It is.Caught 2 more white tipped tailed ones today.Checked my lake sets for the final time today pulling all of them.Catch was falling off and it was time.7 muskrats today including one caught in a 280 set for otter.Rest will be seed for next year.Total count of muskrats came to 114.
