Butch,
Have you been trapping this year?

Greg,
I trapped a few coyotes & might put out some marten/fisher boxes after Thanksgiving. Gotta let the bears go in. Did you come north this year?
Butch

Had bait chewed but trap unfired in a wire box today. The way my traps set in the boxes I don't think the animal had to fully commit to step on my coni pan. The trap was too close.

Mouse? or weasel?

The bait was tore up and pulled from the wire. I am thinking either weasel or marten. The coni pan was only an inch or two from the bait so either could have avoided setting off the trap. I reset with the pan in the other direction.

A snapped trap today where I caught the marten Wednesday and a few sets with the bait stolen.

Finally got over my cough and tagged a doe on Monday and this guy on Saturday. Not a big guy but a nice looking 4 pointer.

I'm glad something went well as trapping is not for me so far lol!

Thanks guys.

Had some big coyote tracks walk within 15 yards of one of my sets last night. Freshened up the sent so I hope he checks it out tonight.

Hey JWood, How many box nights does it take to catch a marten? I might put out a few boxes this week. if you don't want to post the answer please send it in a PM. I talked to "The Mountain Man" yesterday and he said this is the worst year for marten that he has seen.

I can't argue with that. That Marten and 3 weasels came from about 60 sets in 5 days.
