Love their bait, but working on something a bit different but would love to have the same texture base they have in Black Label

JR and Sons sells powdered and liquid/paste lure thickeners

I am looking for a fiber type product to make the bait sticky. For slap and go type sets. Grad a handful and smear it on the bridge pylon or concrete wall.

I have never used that bait or a bait as you describe. I have been using raw cotton this year that I picked a bunch of this fall out of the fields. Been using it under my pans and smearing bait an lure on it to shove down dirt holes and if I use a lot of bait it does get as your describing. It does separate pretty easily in it raw state just pull the seed out of each puff of cotton. It's all natural so no worries of a littering ticket or mad land owners when I tell them it's cotton. Not sure if they grow it up there if they don't and you want some pm me and I will mail you some we got plenty around hear.

I have never used the bait either but I had some rats I rotted down this summer and the hair on them made a good text of the final product. Made me think about adding some fine fur like rabbit to some other products to kind of work like a binder..??? Just me thinking out loud.

Corn starch thickens lots of food into gravy. Maybe it will work with bait.

Lots of old timers used cattail fluff for thickeners. Anything that absorbs moisture will act as a thickener. You need to consider the fact that some things may alter the original odor of the product to a degree. Selecting a somewhat neutral material is helpful.

Dried Bread Crumbs or stuffing pieces which are larger are cheap and would do a nice job at thickening a bait.

Some thickeners may actually improve the odor attraction and palatability of a lure or bait.
