Couldn't believe. Doing an inspection and there it is. A single bat were the exterior wall meets the chimney and soffit.

No hole and this was just after sunset

Is this unusual. Or common. It's a first for me, but so was the video of the bat leaving a soffit when it was 32 degrees and dropping

Every day is a gift from GOD, don't waste it!!

If they have plenty of food, give them something interesting to smell

It isn’t typical but it is possible still. I had a call today from a store owner in Santa Fe.

Temps up there are 19-30 degrees depending on time of day and she has a small western
small-footed myotis above her doorway.

I definitely get big browns still around in cold temps.

Roosting in the open just after dark on a cold night, hard to say what’s going on there.

On one city contract we respond to Bat calls as part of the deal.

It’s not uncommon for single bats in colder temps to have an injury.

Sometimes just a broken finger is enough to cause major issues, but
as many times as we get injured bats we also get healthy bats that are just
loading longer than normal or in a place where folks notice them.

With our species out here I’ve had numerous healthy individuals stay
Put right on exterior in cold temps for 7 days before we checked on them and found
no issues.

No hard and fast rule but the colder it is the less they should be wanting to be sitting there.

Is it a house and place you can see more than today?

Throw Back,

It depends on what your state and local laws are, whether or not any bats are hibernating in the structure and the ambient temperature required for your products to function properly.
