Best dog I have ever owned is a blue heeler. Mine likes to sleep inside. Rarely barks. Great with kids. Loves to ride. Always wants to please. Smarter than most other dogs and most people. Responds well to hand signals. Always guarding our house. Sheds hair. Get a Roomba.
Labs are a great dog. Thats all weve ever had. They are great around kids and do not bark much if they get the proper attention from my experience. They are really fun as pups, and sometimes still act like it Mine lives to eat cucumbers. Hes somethin else...

If you like the husky types find yourself a West Siberian Laika, they are what all the husky/northern working dogs originated from. They're very smart and loyal, they won't take off and roam like a husky, they hunt by sight and scent, and they haven't been screwed up by inbreeding like a lot of breeds.

U asked for a dog Good with kids, solid outdoor dog. NO barkers!
My wife has a litter for sale what you are looking for. Chessie pup's registered, micro chipped all shots and deworming....parents have all health clearances. They love my nephews and neices my male is waiting for the next ice age and loves the cold. And he will bark to send vermin 2 and 4 legged away....i would dare anyone to drive into our farm yard and try to steal something. brown hunting machines good luck on your search for the right dog.
We had a lab chow mix ... the best dog ever. Bear loved to ride in the back of the truck ... was never inside .. smart and would mind you better than your kids if he barked you better load a gun a go look .. a hound of any kind has oily hide and hair if it's coming inside .. we have English setters inside ,,, to hyper and long hair everywhere get a good vacuum and sticky rolls for your clothes. .a lab or lab cross is my advice

Chassis are good but wicked hard headed. A tough English setter can take some cold, even with their coat. Our little Field Setter is actually one heck of a sled dog. But admittedly they don't have great winter coats and ours sleep in the house. Burmisse Mountain dogs are a nice breed as mentioned above but many have health issues.
The last two Labs I got as pups were tough old dogs. The male and female both lived to 15 years of age. They were not running the country side or going on the trapline in their old age but they were still getting around and lot nicer than most people you meet.

Among friends with Golden Retrievers though, most would tell you once you have owned a Golden no other breed will quite do. I have a 2 year old Golden now and would not consider any other breed of dog. A lab or golden need to be around people though, I would not make either an outside dog
