Can't seem to purchase calcium chloride locally. I was wondering where you folks that have it get it from.
The local stores are selling a calcium/magnesium blend.. it claims to have corrosion protection will that work?

Right now I'm using glycol, just plain old glycol no die.. the local shops are selling a bunch of dyed rv antifreeze is that going to scare off yotes?

Thanks
Ken Smith

Talk to folks who plow snow and see where they get theirs. Can usually find it where they sell rock salt for roads. Lowes or other box stores should have it but will most likely be more expensive than those who supply the landscapers/snow removal folks.

Walmart sells regular cheap table salt in a very convenient dispenser for like .40-.60$ cent. I can put in a lot of sets with it. I think it’s nearly a 2lb container.

The stuff tire shops use is about half water. What you need is anhydrous calcium chloride (which contains only about 3% water). Online trapping supply dealers sell it in 1# bottles. For bulk anhydrous calcium chloride consider Chemistry Connection LLC - https://www.saveoncitric.com/cachflallsi.html - in Conway, Ark.

I use "Prestone Driveway Heat" from Walmart. $8.00 for 9.5#. it comes in a nice plastic jug with a dispensing lid. When I get low on it, I then buy the 40-50# (?) bag for $20.00 and refill my jug. Works great.

Where do you get the 50# bag of driveway heat. That's what I'm looking for. I'll check the tire shops and concrete mix yards. I found the heat at Walmart but it's only the little jug. Can't bring myself to buy such a small amount for a higher price.
Thanks

The bag of Driveway Heat is at Walmart. Right next to the jugs. Sometimes they have it by the entrance doors or in the garden center. Same places in Home Depot.

Google says that a Wal-Mart 29.1 mile from me has a 40# bag of Morton's ice melt for 8.97.

29.1 lol so I'm assuming north of you. I have looked down here and all they have a re the little jugs or some kind of sodium blend.
I'm gonna break down and go buy the little jug cuz it's going to be subzero wind chill on the first.
Also going to call around to some more ready-mix spots and see if I can get a bag.

Nothing wrong with mortons table salt in a couple of layers. Ive put that stuff on one trap and not the one 10 yards away just to see. It sure works.

I mix my glycol 50/50 or 60/40 with water. (Read that: too cheap to buy or make waxed dirt. ). I also bring in dry dirt and peat moss because bedding in chunks of frozen dirt hasn’t worked well for me.
