1 1/2" PVC 90 pointed down - this system works great and I'll be using it more next season
This is what I use in areas I can't dig it in. I do use 3 or 4 inch instead of 1 2/1. 3 inch 24 inches long and driven into the ground leaving a hole just big enough for a coon to get one paw in. When this is placed on a trail in a travel area there is just enough bait in the tube to create a habit in the coon to keep coming to the spot for 5 to 10 days after the bait is gone. They wont be there every night but every time they come through on circuit they will stop by and check it out. It your sets are there you will catch coon.
In areas where there are coon every where and catches of 500 to 1000 coon, you trappers will never see the reason for bait stations. And I most likely would not either. But in areas where the coon are lower in numbers, and we see the average trapper catches 50 to 100 coon in a season, bait stations are the key to fast catches allowing the trapper to key on a area for 5 to 10 days and move to another area. It also reduces check time and most trappers can increase season catches. is it right for every one? No!!! if the trapper is trying to learn then by all means get out there walk and put in the time it takes to see how coon act, behave, react and travel. according the phase they are in.
