This is what I use in areas I can't dig it in. I do use 3 or 4 inch instead of 1 2/1. 3 inch 24 inches long and driven into the ground leaving a hole just big enough for a coon to get one paw in. When this is placed on a trail in a travel area there is just enough bait in the tube to create a habit in the coon to keep coming to the spot for 5 to 10 days after the bait is gone. They wont be there every night but every time they come through on circuit they will stop by and check it out. It your sets are there you will catch coon.

In areas where there are coon every where and catches of 500 to 1000 coon, you trappers will never see the reason for bait stations. And I most likely would not either. But in areas where the coon are lower in numbers, and we see the average trapper catches 50 to 100 coon in a season, bait stations are the key to fast catches allowing the trapper to key on a area for 5 to 10 days and move to another area. It also reduces check time and most trappers can increase season catches. is it right for every one? No!!! if the trapper is trying to learn then by all means get out there walk and put in the time it takes to see how coon act, behave, react and travel. according the phase they are in.

Find an old tire with the rim and drill 2 inch holes all around the inner wall and fill with cracked corn.

I'm a K9 trapper with land owners who need help with coon. For me the bait stations are quick and easy. This yr was my first time using them and I'll be using more next yr.

I tried the bait stations for the first time this year. From my experience, they were a waste of time. I put out 8 feeders and kept them stocked full, except I never filled them when season hit. I gang setted dps around them, and out of the 8 feeders, only 1 produced good, and only 2 ever had catches. The one that produced good nailed 12 coons in the first week. At that spot, I would have never thought id catch 12 coons. The rest were in spots where I knew there were coons and lots of them. Having them set for 2 weeks, and I only got one coon off of another feeder and nothing off the rest. IMO, pockets will out produce the feeder, and im not going to mess with feeders again. Pockets may take a bit more time to get set up, but will hammer coons

So the bait stations had coon eat the bait but you didn't catch coon or the coon never hit the stations?

I believe the coon were eating the bait, or else there was millions of mice hanging around there. My thought on why I could never catch coons at the feeders was that the coons were thinking go big or go home. Why would they get food out of a little dp when there was a tire filled with corn infront of them? Just my thoughts on it though

Because if they ate the bait in the tire and that was no longer offered, then the dp set right next to the tire with the same bait gives them what they want, which is the bait, at the same spot. I would love to see if maybe the way you set the traps, not saying you set them wrong, because you didn't because you caught coon at the other location . love to see if trap placement or type had anything thing to do with it? don't know now? I am intrigued with your locations and scenario LOL

I guess I will do some more experimenting this fall. I was also going to tell you that I think the coons were cleaning the feeders because there was trails coming in. I put the dps on the trails Maybe I kept the feeders too full

I do have better catches when the stations are empty.

Did you try setting blind sets on the trails coming to bait station. I don't fool with dps at the station when I can catch every coon on his way there.

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

Stations work really well to move coons from a high tourist area to a secluded area to trap them . Ie nuisance control
