I think it all depends on where they are living and denning. Some of the properties I trap have a lot of rock dens and I will start seeing broken guard hairs as early as the week after Thanksgiving, and by Christmas 90% of them are garbage. I have other properties that even up until the end of February, the majority of them will still be good.

Our coyotes don't den up In the winter. In my opinion the only times coyotes use their dens Is when they are pupping.

I have tossed 4 coyotes so far. Their necks just between their shoulders are just about void of guard hair.

Think I've kept 2 of the last 5 I've caught, rubbed or lice not sure which but they are going south by the day here. Pulled all the coyote line expect a couple places they will start calving in a month.

If you are an auction shipper,i wouldn't send anything questionable. Likely go into one of 10 different damage grades and bring $3-$10 bucks. There are better options.

Can't be.There won't be any thing to talk about if there weren't coyotes trapped in February.

Oh I don't know that they are already passed-maybe some-but up here they are still very nice coyotes.young fella got 18 in 2 days calling and they were beauties.that was only a few days ago.I find each year is different. We still get nice coyotes in February up here-not all of them but still some good ones for sure.

A few good ones doesn’t tell the story.

What’s the average?

The average mid January and on coyote is a wooly, rubbed, past prime specimen.

I peeled a few March coyotes last year! But the average March coyote is a mess.

My coyotes seem to be doing fine other than the fact they are usually full of birdshot and burrs......

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

The pups here are starting to break. I've caught 2 adults the last couple days and they look good. They aren't the best color but they are heavy.
