Chick. I spent nearly 30 years in Alaska, most of that in the bush. I tried a variety of cold-weather footgear, and bunny boots (white ones) are, in my opinion, far and above anything else I tried. I basically lived in 'em for 6-7 months of every year. I'm now down here in the Lowest-48 (On the Continental Divide in Idaho), and rarely see cold temperatures, although zero to -20 (F) is common. Have a pair of the Cabela's packs you mentioned, and really like 'em for these relatively mild winters. Plenty warm and lighter-weight than bunny boots. (Bunny boots = Mickey Mouse boots = VB boots). They've held up well for 4 seasons now.

If you store your bunny boots during the off season store in a dark place they last longer. I used the Trans Alaska 3's for several years and they worked good to 42 below. They are hard to walk in with my worn out knees, back, neck and shoulders! Switched to Cabelas Preditors and they work well. Not slippery and good angle support.

The bunny boots do well in the dark because they have more rods than cones in the eyelets.

The also offer good support to both angles and saxons.

Has anyone ever gone wading or swimming with the trans AK boot on and how do they do after a soaking? Do you get cold feet?

Is there a "secret" with these bunny boots? I bought the black pair. They were new. My feet are icicles in them in temps >0°. I then bought the white bunnies and have tried them as well with no luck. I have worn thin, medium, & heavy socks. Two pairs, etc. Still have cold feet.

I have thrown hand warmers in them with some success. Neither are tight and I have tried snug laces and loose laces. I placed thin insoles in them and it's better than without.

Any thoughts!?

Secret to using white bunny boots buy 1 size bigger and 1 set of bama socks with a pair of
thin socks and after 20 below use 1 pair foot warmer insoles . I always had a problem with feet cold and clammy will wearing bunny boots after reading about bama socks on here and using them I will never use any thing else .

Me and my trapping partner both has a set of baffins sitting in garage haven't used in a few years now . Have been in the drink to many times . Last time we used them was in 2 foot of over flew and was a bad day . At least with bunny boot you can take off dry out and put back on or leave full of water .

The only time my feet have been cold in my bunny boots is when I put them on when they were already cold.

i wonder how they figure -148F. I'm imagining a man in a room wearing these boots and they keep dropping the temperature, then when it hits -148F he says, "Yep, there starting to get a bit cold now"

That's only minus 100 for Canadians.
I always carry change of clothes on the line including boot liners.Seen guys with amputated toes and feet-from freezing.
One guy had both his legs amputated below the knees.
