I guess I have seen about every one that has been mentioned here, and maybe some more. With out a doubt it is The Shootist. If you would read the book by the same title and read John Wayne's thoughts, comments, it will put that into perspective.

There is over 100 movies and I don't think I have seen a bad one when I say that I don't mean acting I mean his movies were about making men out of boys showing men how to be a man something you don't see anymore that said the 3 godfathers.

Based on the responses so far this is probably blasphemy but I like his war movies better than his westerns. In either case, his movies were great.
