I don't think it will be a issue long as fast as the country is going legal for recreational.
Yep , people in 20 years will be saying, What where them people thinking back then . Just like prohibition of alcohol.

As far as the gun thing , I would bet there are more Alcohol drinkers that have guns compared to Marijuana users that have guns by a long shot .

So what you are saying once again, if it was readily available and if a person minded their own business ,it would not effect them.. Got it this time. But that is NOT what the record shows. In CO crime has INCREASED since the legalization. I suspect CA will be the same Sure has in our part of Oregon too.

I believe pot is habit forming, like many things(dad am i gonna go blind). but not addictive. i believe it has been martyred ever since he timber and R/R companies had it illegalized along with it's cousin "Hemp". There are lots of comments on this thread that are very inaccurate. Marijuana has it place both in recreation and in medicine. the political and goody-two-shoe end of it....well, thats a can of worms. i would smoke it and eat it(legal or not). but i am getting a CDL to haul my logs. So the option is out for me. And i sure as heck wouldn't have a weed card even if i did need it on a medical level.

The money generated from being able to grow it legally, and then blackmarket it has attracted all kinds of lowlife scum to here.
At least half of the risk has been minimized, is the way they look at it.
Sorry to rain on the pro pot parade but that is reality for now. We are a legal state here too don't see any unusual scum around here, just the same ones you see hanging around the bars and dumpsters in the city passing a bottle, they are the same ones fighting, urinating and puking in the doorways of the businesses. But we tolerate that right ? Lets see some concern for birth defects from alcohol threads, that's something that needs to be addressed.

Suppose if may be different if you actually adjoined other States ? This whole legal pot thing is a charade, you know it, and so do I. Lets see some concern for the kids who are buying meth, heroin, pills, etc., from the same toothless scum trying to get rich illegally off the legal pot legislation.

But did the state revenue go up and the tax burden go down ?lol, ya i know the tax burden will never go down no matter how much money they get.Oh wait i guess for corporations it does.
Actually, our tax burden went down by well over a thousand dollars this year, but that's a whole different post. Maybe I'll go make that one also.a I disagree with muddyriver 99.8% of the time.... but would be curious to know what CO's state revenue was before and after legalization. A LOT of heated replies on this thread, which I pretty much expected. I smoked weed when I was a kid, but have not bought any since college. That said, wherever I lived since then, NY, IL, MS... one phone call and I could have it delivered, it's not hard to find and many of the people that sell it are white collar workers. That said, I ALSO agree that most of the crime in cities IS probably over weed.... and Jordans. This is a race problem, though, in my opinion, more than a drug problem. If it wasn't weed it would be acid, coke, heck, maybe even Tide Pods. The THUGS will ALWAYS find something to sell, and kill over. I also agree, legalizing weed medicinally won't do much to curb the street problem. People with insurance will probably try to go about it the legal way. Does Medicaid cover weed? If not, only the well to do will use legal means... the blacks, and poor white folk, will still buy it off the streets. But what we SHOULD be talking about here, is the people that CAN afford insurance, which is a shrinking number these days. The lawyer who's wife has Glaucoma, the veteran/now banker that has cancer. THOSE are the people that would use Medical Marijuana, and those are the people whose guns would be taken away.... thugs are thugs... they will use and sell drugs and ALWAYS have guns. It's the law abiding citizens that use a medicine legal IN THEIR STATE.... that get their guns taken away.... that I am talking about.
Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

Only 99.8 % ?lol
Is what will happen is those with guns will continue to do pot like they always have and keep there guns. But some who do not cherish that right will give them up. No doubt in my mind where this is going. In another 30 or maybe less, Australia. They just need to find a way to get the majority on board. And we the tax payers keep lining there pockets to find that way.Divide and conquer. The government we have today has one mission, to make itself more powerful and only a fool would think any different. The real meaning behind the Constitution was to prevent this from happening. It was to chain the power of government not to expand it.
Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty
nor Safety."
If you have not read the book "Animal Farm" you should.
Cheers.

If the Feds really wanted to slow down trade in narcotics, Afghanistan wouldn't be the number 1 producer of opium. I don't believe federal firearm laws are constitutional. I think if someone is so dangerous they can not be trusted to posses a firearm they should not be let out of prison or a mental hospital. I am sick of propaganda being spread by our government that all this legislation makes us safer. I am more scared of congress than street gangs.

Its not the smoking. Its the selling and the mentality of youth right now. Weed is cool and slingin a couple grams makes young people feel like a bada$$. One of our most recent homicides involved two teenagers over a few grams- 70-90 bucks worth. so the answer is legalize it, right? Ask Colorado how thats going. Robberies are up because the state charges a lot more than what street value is. Legalizing it means there are dispensaries and grows popping up everywhere- legally ran and not even clise to legally ran. Weed=money. Everyone wants to talk about the physical effects of the drug-nothing else. Its more rare nowadays that a 20 something would only test positive for THC. Marijuana is hands down the leading cause of gun violence anywhere around these parts and i would imagine many other places. And truly, if we’re going to get nitpicky- one could say tobacco is the leading gateway drug. I see your points. I still can't help but be highly skeptical of your statement that marijuana is the biggest cause of gun violence in your area are anywhere else for that matter. I guess I could be wrong. It's all about the Benjamins, if it wasn't weed it would be something else, it's all about money, always has been, if two groups were selling Pirated DVD movies and one group "creeped" over on their territory, and it was "in" the individual to be violent, there would be a shooting or stabbing or something, not over DVDs but money I work in a Prison and everybody in here serving time can be traced back to money someway or somehow, besides certain other crimes, which we will not discuss
