When do y'all stop Skinning Yotes?
What factors play in the decision to stop skinning?

I had a pretty female today and she had rubbed shoulders. Other than that she was great.
So should the guard hairs being missing from the shoulders be enough to ditch her or not?

I may post some pics when I get home.

Thanks
Ken Smith

When I was selling my furs at the groney truck this year their was a fellow in front of me selling some coyotes and he had one with a big rube spot between the shoulders.Groneys buyer handed it back to him and said it had no value at all to him.I don`t waste my time with ones like that but figured the buyer would take it if he got it for free but he wouldn`t even take it when the guy told him he could have it.

I usually stop trapping coyotes the second week in January here.
Time to chase cats and the fur buyer gets real picky on coyotes.

I've caught bad coyotes In Nov and Dec and caught some good ones to. And I've caught good coyotes In Feb It's a tough call as to when you should quit. But for the most part a dead coyote Is a good coyote whether you skin It or not.

Mine are just now getting good. This one's from yesterday. I started the first part of November, but they weren't really very good until the week before Christmas.

But I trap and skin them all season or until I don't want to fight the weather anymore

I have had a handful of catches this last week and only one worth skinning.
The ranchers want them all gone so I'm gonna keep up the yotes sets but I also switching gears to focus mainly on cats. I don't have much land I can trap for cats maybe 80 acres of river bottom and 160 half a mile from the river.
I'm gonna set up this new property tomorrow we will see how the cats turn out.

The biggest ranch I got won't let me take the cats.
Maybe I will get blessed and catch a handful of nice yotes before our fur season ends. We got a wrm up coming so maybe some water sets would be nice.

Thanks all for the responses

Stop skinning when it becomes cost prohibitive.

Market plays a big factor.

Cost of production plays a factor.

last year I caught most of my dogs late Jan - end of Feb. You would have thinked they would have been worthless but got good money for a couple of them. Here I chase them until it gets to warm. We have to many.

Pulled my traps a week ago. The last 4 or 5 were worthless.

From late December until March 1st the ratio of bad verses good goes down hill. I've skinned 10 out of the last 20. I'm done except for where there are trouble makers..Or where I'm to bullheaded to give up on a few that won't step on the pan LOL...

Normally here the pups look great into February.
