I used to store my bait and urine in my basement where it stayed about 62* to 65* year round. My new place doesn't have a basement, just a crawl space. I do have a mini fridge I can use but what's the best temp for storing such things ? -Thanks

Just keeping in a cool dark place is what is importantas light will change the odor, color and consistency of lures over time

All taken with urine and bait that sits in 100 plus degree shed all summer. How many bait or urine sellers use climate controlled rooms in their facility?

No glow lures,9 inches back offset 10 inches, low backing, salty bait feed the animal first type theories or man made perfume. No wonder so many people struggle.

Isn't that the truth tbn.

Where are you finding those red fox in Kansas. If I would catch one a season out there I was lucky most years I didn't catch any. They have a hard time making it with all the coyotes. Most I find are close to town.

No point, just making an observation. I see what appears to be a red fox tail in that one photo.

I put my lures in ammo cans, more so for odor control than preservation. Urine, oils, and bait goes in a 5 gallon bucket, filled with dirt and stored outside for the summer.

All of our lure and bait is produced, bottled and stored indoors year round. Temperatures can vary considerably over the seasons.

Well built products will not be adversely affected by avg. temperature spikes very much. Other then their consistency will vary with temperature exposure obviously. The warmer it gets the more mobile the product will become. The colder it gets the firmer it will become.

Exposure to sustained direct sunlight is not recommended as Asa alluded too earlier for any products for extended periods of time.

What will happen if exposed to direct sunlight as far an animal is concerned and their nature of curiosity is concerned?

In my opinion I have seen no adverse affects of the above situations in my lifetime that was a direct result of good science.

I end up using all of my mistakes and considered undesirable end result products over the years that I felt weren't meeting my final product standards. I have caught thousands of animals on the those so called mistake batches of product over the years.

So to answer a question some product will change according to batch consistency, color and in some cases odor. Will it have a negative effect probably not. It can reflect some reaction behavioral changes from an animal however it will still have a curiosity effect no doubt.

Too much human thought evaluation does go into some of these conversations no question of that. I have been around long enough to realize there are lots of ways to do things and its best not to over think some things. Just get out and do it and you will learn a lot more by observation and trial and error. Too much information isn't interpreted and absorbed well by some and it only serves to confuse and complicate many at times.

No matter where you live you will find reds close to human civilization. Coyotes live deep in the woods which pushes the reds out into where coyotes won't go which is near towns, home etc. Thats why in NJ we have so many reds.
