I just gave a solid beating- or maybe I took a solid beating from the bulletproof puller that Rednecktrapper sent me. When I get my act together I will post some pictures. I could not bend the puller and I am positive that J-hooks and 3/32 cable and twist link chain (the kind that comes on a Victor #2) will break before the puller will bend. O and the frozen ground certainly doesn't help. But the puller certainly holds up its end of the bargain! Maybe you are just "TOO STRONG", I think I saw you pop a "J" hook & a cable.

Jerry Jr. from the forums met me today and brought his puller. Man, they just popped right out. I'll never be without one again, that's for sure.
Now, to find the best one is the new task.

Ok, so let's say that it's the end of the season and it's time to pull traps. What do you all do with your earth anchors?
I dug out two super stakes today. Man, that wasn't easy. Mine are very hard to get into the shale that I trap on. I carry bolt cutters and just cut the "J" hook. Next time I want to set that location my stake is already there.

Lol^^ I use the bulldog stake puller, it paid for itself the first week. Can't imagine going without it.

I dug out two super stakes today. Man, that wasn't easy. TB1, the fastest and easiest way I’ve found to pull super stake earth anchors from unfrozen ground is with a DeWALT drill & a 1½" auger. Drill down right next to the chain, then pull the anchor. It only takes 6-8 seconds from start to finish; and you’re on to the next trap. I haven’t picked up a puller since I tried this method for retrieving earth anchors.

Thanks Tejas, I like.that option. That auger can also be used for other purposes.
The chain doesn't wrap around the auger or anything?

The chain doesn't wrap around the auger or anything? You Betcha! It’s a fine line staying close to the chain without catching it. Extend the chain to one side and push on the trap with your foot to keep the chain tight while you drill. If you happen to wrap it on the auger, just reverse the drill, then push the chain back to one side and keep it tight as you redrill the same hole. Apply pressure to the side of the hole opposite the chain to avoid wrapping again. The less loose dirt left in the hole after drilling down, the easier it will be to pull the anchor. Make sure that when you drive your anchors you drive them straight down, and not at an angle. That way you can drill straight down the chain to the anchor for easy removal. It takes a few times to get the hang of it, but once you do you can pull a line really fast.

For what few trap that I have moved around I have been marking my anchors with flagging tape to pull later once the ground thaws. I have a bar with a chain hook that I pull with.
