These things are something else. Here's a comparison to some other nice traps. Can't wait to get a few in the ground. I'm pretty much done for the season but There's still a few decent ones running around.

I got some to try and I did like them but they are too heavy for a multi species line. But great for coyotes

The Jr. I get a few incidental fox but these look like big stout coyote traps.

Hahahaha!! The extreme is about half way between the jr, and that jake. I have all 3 of them and they are hands down my favorites. You will love that trap.

Are trap jaws measured inside to inside, or outside to outside?

They look like they would be NY State legal. We can use traps that are up to 5.75" INSIDE spread.

Depends on your state. Some states have outside spread restriction, and some states have inside spread restrictions. That is why there are inside and outside laminations. If your state has an outside restriction, inside laminate the trap. Vice Versa

That said, I have been using the K9 Extremes some this season, and I like them a lot. Especially for blind sets because there's lots of room to hit the pan. I have always run MB550s, and Kendall talked me into trying the Extremes at Minktoberfest. I will be ordering some Juniors for next season. I do have to admit though, I'm still getting used to the dogless traps. I like not having to tear a slot in my pancover though. I had to add some pan tension to them though to get them to stay set when I was bedding them with screen. I've heard guys wanting lighter pan tension, but I don't see how it could get much lighter than the way they come from Kendall. I almost got caught a few times pushing down that loose jaw with the screen covers. Everything I've caught in them so far has been caught DEEP though. No worries about a pullout yet.

Get inside laminations on them, and then it's not even a question.

I have a half dozen Extremes and a half dozen Jr's. ALL of them have 4-5# of pan tension. I don't have a tester, but my 3# hammer has to be PUSHED on to the pan to set off the traps.
A couple notes-
#1- I haven't caught anything in a Jr.
#2- I've only had catches in 1 of the Extremes (that 1 Extreme took 1 red fox and 5 coyotes).
#3- that 1 Extreme seems to have a little less pan tension after the catches.
#4- bow string wax, like Kendall suggested to me, does seem to lower the pan tension a little (as long as you keep the bow string wax warm to apply it
crazy)
#5- all of mine are 4 coiled.

To clarify, I REALLY LIKE THESE TRAPS! I just want to get the pan tension down to 2.5-3#. (without having to make them 2 coiled)

Why the opposition to 2 coiled? That will definitely bring your tension down. I have a doz 2 coiled extreme jr's, and I don't measure but I'd bet they are about 2 lbs, waxed.

I run all 2 coiled traps, no problem holding animals we have in the lower state, plus 24 hour check I can't see where 2 coil can't hold a coyote....4 coil I guess would be better if your busting through tight or frozen ground?

Thought I was a good trapper until I started trapping coyotes......
Thought I was a good bowhunter until I targeted mature bucks....

I like the 4 coils with our freeze/thaw/freeze weather. Helps break through crusted covering better.

Not a holding problem, the lockup on these traps almost guarantees a hold. I want the 4 coils for getting out of the ground, so the lockup can do its job.

All of my 4 coil extreme's & Jrs fire at 3 poundsish, its not much tweaking at all, and a swipe of wax.

I run 6 dozen JRs and all 2 coiled. Great trap. Accounted for over 40 red fox, 3 big eastern Pa coyotes and a bobcat. Mine are all outside laminated and I wax mine and have them set at about 2 pound tension after waxing.
They are tough and easy to bed. I had all pas or above catches.
They are easy to set 2 coiled and my son can set them by himself.
The extremes are a bit much if your a fox Trapper but they are nice as well.
The coating holds up well as some of mine are on season 3 with minimal issues with the paint . Even the ones chewed on by the coyotes are still nice
