What's the best way to figure out how to ensure such an agreement is drafted properly so as to allow me to legally nuisance trap out of season on someones private property? If it's for a friend or co-worker's property, which I wouldn't necessarily be looking to get paid for, is the agreement required to have some sort of consideration, such as a penny?

you can act as an agent for a landowner to remove nuisance animals out of season. I usually take the wording right out of the trapping regulations, off the top of my head, I think you need to have the location, the landowner's and agent's information on it as well as a time line and the species targeted. PM me, I can send you a sample.
I do not believe it says anything about getting paid. if you want, exchange a symbolical dollar, but I really do not think it matters.

I would think if u are getting paid anything and it isnt on yourbown property you would need a nuisance license

All depends on the state restrictions on the license you possess. I'd just contact your fish&game, wildlife division etc.. and ask questions because some states verbiage on their website on this matter isn't as clear as it should be, and if you get jammed up it could cost you in the long run. Then document the conversation so if you happen to get checked and you're not in compliance, you have something to back you up.

I assume we're talking about Wisconsin. We have no nuisance permit, but you do need a fur trapping license. If you're removing animals out of season, you need a letter from whoever is paying you, stating that they are having a problem and that they need the animals removed. That is your nuisance permit if the wardens asks.

Yes, I'm talking about WI Paul.
TDHP, I contacted our DNR last year. I got some very helpful info, but they don't seem to have it spelled out too well in any of the reg books.
Thanks for the info thus far. This is helpful.
1 thing that puzzles me is they don't allow the use of bait for out of season nuisance beaver trapping. I asked DNR about that, and they didn't have a good answer, almost as if it was a technicality mistake on their part. A person should be able to put out a castor mound, for example. I'd like to see that part of the law changed. I would think using such bait would be a good thing, because you're less likely to catch an incidental otter (I think) in a baited castor mound set than in a 330 blind set (I suppose the trick is to move the trigger wires to the side on a Body grip trap [if otter is a concern]).

Can you set a 330 at a natural castor mound? Beaver refresh them often, especially after a rain.

Note to self- Engage brain before opening mouth (or hitting the ENTER key/SUBMIT button).

I don't see how it is not very clear what you can and cannot do.
