Was at the local Yamaha dealers recently. Getting a non snogo part but......they had a tricked out bravo in front. It had a steel under seat box on it. They were selling the box alone for 400 bucks. I figure they had the boxes custom made so that would figure in the price.
Wondering about other places to get a box. Maybe hard to get one strong enough and the right size to fit under the bravo seat. Sure looked convenient. Might be ablew to make one out of aluminum but would need some reinforcing to withstand 200 pound guys sitting, kneeling, bouncing along on the seat I figure.
Anyone got an idea on where to get or to make a box? Being the same dimensions as the seat, looked like it would hold a bunch of equipment, traps, axe, etc.

MT, just use 2x4s thats what i did. Bravo is out in the bush so no pictures but its pretty simple to build.

Thought of that too, Yukon. Might give it a try. But also hoping for other (cheaper) ideas!

Cheaper than a 2x4 MT?

Man you are tight, maybe use beer cans flattened out with an axe and soldered together?

If you want to save money, you can find tons of them at the dump.

I built this seat riser on my ol Bravo out of Aluminum channel I had laying around the shop and worked real nice.

Had to put handle bar riser on it also to make it a little more comfortable.

I like that 1x4 idea. Tho I know I'm somewhat bigger/heavier than Takotna. I'll check out aluminum channel around where I work also.
Thanks guys.

No they are not making them now, just lots of them floating around out there. They did bring back the VK540 so maybe the Bravo will be next!

Back in the bravo days I had posted most of these. Think they have since been wiped due to photobucket
My first seat was made out of two by six. It was overbuilt but it worked.
Over all the additional height of the seat as well as the handlebars made a tremendous difference in running the bravo I would never go back to a stock machine

The second machine that I put together for myself I refined the seat by using plywood and corner gussets. It worked very well.

Of course along with a taller seat comes the need for a taller handlebar and it worked quite well. The cables are long enough to accommodate this up to a point I will have to get the measurements for you if you want them.

Just finished an under seat box for my bravo. it is made out of 1X4's and a small piece of angle metal in front and rear of box to attach to the tunnel. don't have great pictures right now but here is something. I also used a piece of 1/4 in. plywood for the seat bottom as i recovered the seat and that forms the top of the box. i will try to get better pictures soon.

Oh Okay. Yeah maybe. Seems to me that they were one of their best models for the price. Everything else they produce is way overpriced.

You guys built some pretty fancy seats.

Len did you ever break the steering column when that riser was installed?? I broke a couple of that were stock, then one winter I was down on the Turnagain feeding horses for an outfitter and trapping. I was using an old Bravo he had and someone had added some length to the column. I was constantly breaking it down near the bottom. Finally pulled the column out and stuck a solid piece of bar stock inside the steering tube and plug welded it. Worked fine after that.

I have broken the bottom end once. And I did what you did in the repair.
I am careful not to exert too much force on the steering after that when riding a bravo. It appears to be a weak spot.
