It was my first year trapping in southwest PA and Ive been hooked ever since I caught my first coyote (which is my target species). It was cool to share the moment with my mother in law who felt like walking through 6 inches of snow in single digit temperatures that morning. I’ve caught 2 yotes so far this year but for all the fresh sign I’ve seen I can’t help but feel something I’m doing isn’t quite right. I’ve learned so much reading these forums keep all this valuable information coming! One day I’ll learn how to post a picture.

When did you start trapping this year?Trapping in the snow makes it hard IMO for coyotes.If I see we are going to get a couple inches and set right before a snow it can work great but making sets in the snow can make you get a lot of days you want to pull your hair out.The two weeks between archery season and gun season are very good for trapping coyotes around here.

Started late, maybe around mid December but I agree that setting with snow has been tough. I’ve set twice before we’ve had 4-6 inches of snow and each time it’s gotten me a coyote. I’ve been enjoying this colder than normal weather because I’m not dealing with opossum,coon, and skunk. Have 6 #2 4coiled bridgers and 6 #2 2coiled dukes out right now on day 11. Gonna pull out early February and get ready for the mosquito creek coyote hunt.
