As a second year trapper, this is the first time I have had deep snow to set CRs in. I had all my sets up and running until we got 12" of snow so yesterday I walked every trail and resetting the cable behind me as a walked into the woods. My thinking it the coyotes will travel the easiest path. My question is, some of my cables actually dip into the trail I created is this good or bad? If I set them higher, they will be way over 10" off the hard surface the coyotes will be walking on.

Looking forward to seeing if the deep snow will funnel them into my trails.

You will be good, but it is time to watch what the yotes do. Some may follow your trail some may divert. On my line if a yote or fox hit a foot trial they do a 180 and leave, unless there is a dusting of snow over the track. Alot of times I will pull a round of fire wood behind me, it erases my track and leaves a nice ferrule for them to follow.
