How many people save castor from beaver? Is it worth the trouble? On average what is it worth?

I just sold 1 lb. 12 ounces of castors for $86. It’s also great for making your own lure that is attractive to just about every critter out there.

Might as well keep them. You can sell them or put em up however you want for lure.shame to waste them, theyre right there for the taking after you skinn them.the flesh makes very good bait also.the backstraps are good tablefare as well

I think it was 10 or 11 adult beavers to get that amount. Three of the sets were really full which is uncommon for me.

I've been getting almost 3 oz from most of them. The rest are empty.

Save them. Sometimes it takes far fewer to equal a lb. I usually figure spring beaver just prior to the rut take about 4 adults to equal a lb.

It sure is worth saving. I've been paying $50. a pound straight through with no grade for southern castor. Many times down here the castor is worth more than the hide.

Yep those 10 or so beavers that gave me $86 in castor only gave me $160 in fur.

sometimes the castor is worth as much as the hide these days. your skinning it anyway might as well take an extra minute t remove the castor.

I have not sold any castor for years. Is it standard practice to dry then freeze them if they are to be shipped to NAFA?
