Should I discard my pickle and tanning solution after each use or can I cap the bucket and save it for later. And just add more pickling solution to maintain the pH, and then the same with tanning solution. I know that the leather will degrade the tanning solution after every use. But if I save the solution and then add more tanning powder/water/salt to maintain it's pH of 4.0, is this ok? Thanks

You can do that a few times. When it gets smelly mix up a new batch.

Awesome. Thanks. What do you use for a pickling tank? I've been using a Rubbermaid tote but it's kind of crowded with 2 fox and a coyote. I'm afraid it won't pickle all parts of the hide. I'm constantly out there stirring to make sure.

Stir every 15 minutes for the first hour, then twice a day after that.Dont crowd the skins though, they should be able to float freely.

I have them weighed down with bricks so all parts are submerged. It seems to crowd the skins though so I am constantly stirring. Would it be ok if I just let them free float as long as I'm stirring at least a few times a day?

I should think you will be good to go there as long as you stir a few times a day. At least that is how I do mine. Free floating, stirring 2-3 times a day like Boco said.

I have had some batches a bit too crowded. In which case you will get some creases or folds that are stiff or don't tan at all.
