Which one would be best for coyote trapping but may still see a fox or two along the way... also 2 could or 4 and what laminating does everyone prefer if any?
Thanks in advance

I asked the same question to trappergbus...and he thought the Jr. would work best in that situation. I'm going to try half a dozen 4 coil with outside lam, and see how I like them.

The K9 Extreme is an AWESOME coyote trap. The best I have ever used. I caught 1 fox in one, and will say that they are too much for fox. They will obviously hold an incidental fox out on the coyote line, but they are not to be used as a "fox" trap.
I own both the Extremes and Jr's, but haven't caught anything in a Jr. The Jr's would have zero problems holding a coyote, and due to size alone, should be easier on fox. (All mine are 4 coiled and offset)

I have 4 coiled extremes and have caught coon in them.. all mine have 3 swivels.. I don't have any JR'S so I can't compare but the bigger coons would have walked away... just saying.. foxes are a different critter I have had them try and chew there way out of 550 offsets.. but no other animal has tried that just the fox

You gonna learn taday.....

All mine have an added in line swivel too. I have only caught the 1 fox in it, so not much to go on, but that 1 fox had too much damage for my liking.

I have some of both and caught coyotes and fox in the Jr and they were good for both, but I mainly target coyotes and bobcats, and catch occasional fox. Great coyote traps but I'm not sure id use them strictly for fox

You wouldn't use the JR's strictly for fox, RM?

I'm definitely no fox trapping expert ditchdiver, I just feel like they are a little big for fox, the last fox I caught was in a JR and it definitely wasn't going anywhere, the jaws actually had it above the knee, I'll try to find the pic. I love the trap for what I'm after but I don't get many fox

The Juniors are definitely better for multi species, the 3/16 offset is better all around. The !/4 offset is a little big for fox IMHO. The Extremes are a great straight coyote trap especially in deep snow conditions. But remember when coyotes came on the scene I used 1.5 monties. IMO a 6 inch jaw spread is ideal for yotes and the MB550os for where theirs both on the same permission. The next Juniors I buy will have IL,OL just to see the difference. Both the Jrs and the Extremes I own now are OL both are PAW friendly to yotes but the Paw moves a bit when fox step in the Extremes.
Lat Bite has some Juniors with IL OL and the paws on fox look great.
But what the heck do I know LOL... wink

I'd use their 1.5 strictly for fox

The best straight fox trap IMO is the MB 450os, they have held every coyote if the paw fits..

Kendall will build them with different chain rigs. In his catalog you can order crunchproof swivels or nail swivels. But you can get custom chain setups. I'm going be getting dozen regular jaw Jr's with inside lams. To try next year. Tank of trap for the $. I also want a four coil regular jaw to try on otter.

You can also get the D ring on the base plate centered or of center. They would be a great Otter trap. I've trapped a few beaver in the extremes with the offset jaws without issues...

Yea Gman all my Jrs & Extremes have the il/ol, OS & 4 coil, actually I have caught most of my fox this year in the Extremes (with very minimal damage at all), I'm guessing its because I use them in my dirt holes, and Fox seem to love big flashy dirt holes. Gary & Kendall guided me in getting the pan tension down so all my traps are at 3ish pounds...

Gary hates my dirt holes btw..... lol

I had 4 yotes and a fox one day in the truck when the neighbor & his brother in law came over, they could not figure out what paw the animals were caught in. I thought that was a good testimonial.......

If and when I buy new again, I will go with the Jrs. Last week I did find a deal on some preowned Extremes that was way too good to pass up though... smile

I have a problem with grey fox, I have a lot of fox in my area, especially Grey's. But we have coyote and bobcat galore too. Ol 2 coil Bridger #2s are what I use most
Still not very grey fox friendly.

I run mainly OL JRs 2 coiled and they performed great on everything caught. The fox and coon where held very well with minimal foot issues. The coyotes and bobcat where fullboad or above pad. It is an excellent trap and will be fine for grey fox but still hold coyotes.
