I just finished my trapping vacation and as requested by a few I will be posting some pictures. I had some crazy weather to deal with during the week. First off I have a new appreciation for you guys that deal with extreme cold. When I started setting we were just coming out of close to zero lows and below freezing daytime temps. I know now what it is like to have to use a axe to make a trap bed. Breaking four inch ice just to wash my hands was also a new experience. Then it really warmed up in the 60's just before getting 2" of rain and thunderstorms on the third night. Then temps went back to normal daily freeze/thaw with a couple small rains after that. It really put my peat moss system to the test but all in all it worked good.
The coyote count was down this year with only eight. The bobcat count was about normal at six with a couple really nice spotted ones. The grey fox count was a little low at two and I did not catch my normal one red. The coon and possum counts were both in the twenties as usual.
My 30 year old step son is between jobs right now and wanted to learn how to trap. He was a big help on setting days and on pull up day. He only got his thumb in a MB550 one time. LOL
I'll be posting several pictures. Hope you enjoy!
