Last day check on my 1st trapping season in Iowa. Gear is all pulled. Learned a lot but have a loonnnng ways to go.
Trapped a little on my small property in December and caught my 1st bobcat (I am getting mounted) and 2 reds. Spent the last 8 days at another property trying to get my 1st yote. I caught another cat(that was interesting turning her loose) and a few xl boar coons.

Never got the yote....the pic of the last trap I pulled pretty much sums it up. I guess sometimes you just have to laugh at yourself, but I will be back...

I'm assuming the trap got rolled on or something???????

Just pulled out from my first year also. Congrats on the cats! Looks like some of those grasses stuck in your trap are a bit to chunky for covering, but being a rookie myself I’m unable to help you with exactly what happened.

I guess I am now wondering that as well, but wouldn't have thought it would have prevented a catch.

Stay after them. They are a pain for sure. I was was talking to my youngest last night about B-ball, he said he knew about all about B-ball. I told him I’d been trapping 30 years and I learned 2 or 3 very important things this year about trapping yotes. The learning never stops. There are some very smart guys on here so just keep asking questions. Good luck
