That looks pretty cool. What size is it, and that trigger sure looks different.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

It is 4x3 but I rotated it so the trigger was on the side.

Looks like a Jack Frost design to me. Newt knows.
Do not dry fire that trap. It will destroy the brass trigger over time.

I have several dozen of these that I bought over the years and they work ok.I have the 110 size. I bought them at the nj fur harvesters conventions. They are a little bit lighter in weight than a standard 110 which I like when you have to get into a place with deep or sloppy mud.You don't have to dye them either.I think the trapper that makes them and sells them at the convention is on this forum. If the quality is as good on the #44 as the ones I have go ahead and try them there good liitle traps.

Also the standard 110.

Have several doz., some that have been used since the early '80s. They work. Nice traps.

Never argue with a fool - they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Any problems with the shiny metal showing? Can you post a better close up pic of that trigger?

Regarding a weasel-specific trap we started testing the black box gopher trap recently and it looks very promising. Neck or chest catch. An improvised pan has provided neck catches. The kill bar is stainless, I believe, so no fur staining. Anyway, promising so far.

Judging from your pics, the trigger on these traps is different than what the Jack Frost ones came with. They had a brass caliper affair, though while cool, they got hammered when dry fired. Maybe these new ones don't suffer from that fate.

Joep the Victor black box has it all over the weasel getters. Stronger springs, tougher housing it is built to last and I think it would handle a marten or mink ok whereas the springs would be too weak on the WG for that .

Yes,I am not sure where the cut off line is for white weasels is.How far south no one can give me an answer. But I know it extends as far south as the northern suburbs of Chicago.Have not made a box for the Koro yet.My Gopher Getter keeps getting cleaned out by mice.We have very low densities of weasels around here.Far less than mink.A few other traps I picked up for experiments.

Oh yeah we have shrews! We screwed 1/4" plywood on the back of the black boxes. Easy done.

To combat shrews cut a small hole in the lid of an empty plastic jar or container and put some meat in there. Hang your weasel or marten set etc and put the shrew trap at the base of the tree. Saves bait and fur. The shrews drop in and have no way to climb out. I don't hate shrews but I hate what shrews can do.
