Actually my skinner is wall mounted but my stand alone machines can be moved same as yours with the hoist on the bottom. Also my personal skinner swings back against the wall when not in use.

Ok in the very beginning of the thread a horizontal skinner is mentioned. I have lower ceilings in my garage and I’m curious on how it would work compared to vertical. Any pics or experience using one?

Yes I have built a few of them. The guys who use them really like them. It's all in what you get used to.

John, you're welcome. Folks that are skinning many coons or any coyotes need a skinning machine. Whether they buy one from me or someone else, or build it themselves or have it built for them, I like to help them out. May as well get it right the first time around. As they say there's more than one way to skin a cat coyote, but I have learned a lot about it over the years and feel confident helping others with it. Work smarter, not harder.

ADC how does that trap door setup work? Do you have to skin the coyote or coon down further by hand to use it?

I built it the way the fella asked me to. I have built a few of them since. He says he pulls it a little farther but not much than the vice grip skinners. He just pulls all the hide he can to the back and puts it in the trap door. He regrips after its down below the nose.

I see thank you. I'm looking to get a Skinner or. Build one like yours but just trying to get my ducks all lined up before I start a project like this.
