Looks prime allright.I think that one would grade as a grey butt.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

They did here, get out of the wind, sometimes there were two or more in a hole, they would den in usually south facing hill tops, old badger dig, coyotes sometimes use dredge ditch feeder tubes, especially in high winds, had a few see my truck and they went straight for a culvert to hide in Shoot and pull out with wire

What are you guys talking about? Fox don't use a den often after done raising pups. It's not like they are in and out of a den regularly causing rubbing on there fur this time of year. This time of year, a fox will go in any hole they can to escape danger, and pretty darn rarely other than that. They aren't muskrats. Guess the 2 that are living undr my buddy's garage dont know they are not supposed to use a den except for raising pups and avoiding danger. Oh well they cant all smart I guess

I thought it was past ripe.
A few years ago a lot of fox showed up at our local sale. They looked nothing like local fox. In the parking lot I spied a Maryland license plate.
Guys that have handled fur from different regions know these things.

I have caught nice reds in February but most are not so nice by now. I have also caught reds in February that are ready to have pups, and once observed pups looking out of a den on Valentine's Day. If you see red foxes entering a den it is because there are, or soon will be pups. Grays are born much later, usually in April. Yep

Dean...It is better to say nothing and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt...every fox I have ever seen or been near lives in a hole of some sort, year-round. Might be a groundhog hole, a rock pile, or a wood pile (especially log piles). But they live in a hole nonetheless. It is true they spend more time around the den when they have kits in there, but they live in a hole, nonetheless. Question I have is why our red fox trapping and hunting season goes to mid-February when their pelts are already rubbed from mating season. Seems like a waste of a good resource. If PGC is going to clamp down on grouse season, then heck, why not for red fox..

Maybe for the trappers that want to trap fur no matter what the price is and for the trappers that are trapping to maintain a healthy population.
