Pocket sets are great for catching mink. Dig a pocket in the bank about 4-5" across and any depth. Put some fresh fish in the back with the trap set just under water tight up close to the pocket. Make sure the trap fires with a hair trigger. Stake it out in deep water and collect your mink.
Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine!

My take seeing as how you are limited to snares. You may be better served to run a pipe, 4-6 in a foot or two long. Set it parallel to the bank and cover with mud, weeds rocks. Have a slit cut in the center top to set the snare in. I believe it is way easier and more productive to set the dry land trails though.

Make your own pocket/tunnel and place it anywhere. And definitely use snares, they are deadly on mink. Courtesy of Eric Space

I can't use footholds or conibears on land. So how would one catch mink using pocket sets ands snares? Wow, sounds like it's time to move.

Can you use footholds in water? I don’t even think they can possess them, but I may be wrong

Yup, I'd move. Plenty of mink in another state.
